Once the QVu results are complete you can view them on your laptop, ensuring you have captured good imagery during your survey, and allowing you to scout areas of the field that look like they may have problems.
From here you can take pictures and notes in the field to show more of what's happening, and add those to your results in FarmLens.
Transferring the Geotiff results to your Tablet/Phone:
We created this to help you analyze your flight and field within minutes after your flight. The QVu data isn't intended to be the final, fully detailed output, but it'll provide you with a basic overview of the field. Using the QVu geotiff in conjunction with a phone or GPS enabled tablet can make the crop scouting process easier.
While we are working to make the transfer process easier, you do have a few options:
With Internet Access: Via Email
The easiest way to transfer the images is to send them via e-mail as an attachment, however, this requires internet access. If you have internet access it will be easier to choose what application to open the images with (we currently suggest PDF Maps).
Without Internet Access: To an iOS Device (iPhone/iPad):
Before starting, be sure you've installed the latest version of iTunes, as this will enable the transferring of data between your computer and your device. We'll also be assuming you've installed Avenza Maps/PDF Maps onto your device.
Once you've installed iTunes and Avenza Maps, you should be able to plug your device into the Windows computer running FarmLens Uploader and iTunes will automatically pop-up when the device is plugged in (if not, you will need to open iTunes).
Next, you'll need to authorize the computer. If it has not already been authorized, you'll see a pop-up similar to this:
Following the instructions to authorize the device, using your Apple ID and password. Now that your iTunes is authorized:
Click your device icon at the top left:
This will take you to a new (possibly) blank page with your device identified at the top left. Here's a visual guide of what to do next (text below explains):
Using the screenshot below as a guide, you'll next want to click "Apps" at the left (1), then scroll (2) to the bottom of the page until you see your list of apps under the title "File Sharing". You'll next want to click on "Avenza Maps" (3), this will show your "Avenza Map Documents" on the right. Click "Add File..." (4) towards the bottom and it should allow you to select your QVu Mosaic. Finally, click "Sync" at the bottom (5) to sync the image to your device.
Moving to your device, you should now be set to add the image to the Avenza Maps app. Start the app, and at the top right click the "+". This will bring up a pop-up to "Add Map". From there, tap "From iTunes File Sharing" (near the bottom) and it will bring up a list of your mosaics that you've added through iTunes. Select the mosaic you want and you should now be able to navigate the mosaic with GPS (assuming you are in the geo-coordinates of the mosaic that you added).
To an Android Device:
Connect your Android device to your computer via USB and be sure to (1) unlock your device and (2) select MTP as the transfer protocol or select "Allow" if there's a pop-up. This varies from device to device. The transfer protocol can be selected from the notifications list on your device. Then using Windows Explorer, browse to your device, open up either your phone or SD card by double clicking on it:
You should then see a bunch of folders, but one of them should be named "DCIM". This is where you'll want to place the ".tiff"/image via copy/paste. You should then be able to browse to the tiff using the "Import a map" of PDF Maps or any image viewer.
- Make sure you have the most recent version of FarmLens uploder on your computer by closing it and then launching it while connected to the internet. If there is a newer version it will automatically update.
